O ex-vocalista da banda de rock Led Zeppelin foi o maior vencedor da 51ª edição do Grammy, em Los Angeles (EUA). Ele levou cinco prêmios neste domingo (8) pelo disco "Raising Sand" (2007), gravado em parceria da cantora folk Alison Krauss.

A dupla ganhou os troféus de Álbum do Ano; Gravação do Ano com "Please Read the Letter"; Melhor Colaboração Pop com "Rich Woman"; Melhor Colaboração Country com "Killing the Blues"; Melhor Álbum Contemporâneo de Folk/Americana com "Raising Sand".

O grupo britânico Coldplay, um dos favoritos da premiação, venceu em três categorias das sete para o qual foi indicado: Música do Ano,Melhor Álbum de Rock e Melhor Performance Pop em Dupla ou Grupo com Vocais pelo disco "Viva la vida" e a música que dá nome à obra.

Como o Coldplay, outro grande favorito só levou metade dos troféus para os quais foi indicado. O rapper americano Lil Wayne, que tinha oito indicações, levou os prêmios de Melhor Álbum de Rap por "Tha Carter III"; Melhor Performance Individual de Rap com "La Milli"; Melhor Canção de Rap com "Lollipop"; e Melhor Colaboração de Rap em "Swagga like us".

A cantora Adele levou a Melhor Performance Vocal Feminina por "Chasing pavements" e o prêmio de Artista Revelação, desbancando artistas como Jonas Brothers e Duffy.
